Blatant Inaccuracies

Here's a case of Fox news using the wrong footage for their news clip. It seems Fox News assumes all black people look the same. It's quite astounding how they can make these kinds of mistakes:

Polling - Fox News Style

Have a look at this YouTube video of a Fox News poll result for the most foolish American of the year. Ironically the winner as displayed is George Bush with 40% of the vote yet, gobsmackingly, the result is told to be Britney Spears who came in second with 33%.

More Electronic Voting Shenanigans

The New York Times is reporting that Florida has had voting issues again.

Vern Buchanan, the Republican candidate, won the election by a mere 373 votes. But more than 13 percent (~18,000) of those who went to the polls Tuesday did not seem to vote in the Congressional race when they cast ballots - an unexplained discrepancy.

More than 100 voters have told the Jennings campaign (Democrat) that their votes for her did not show up on the summary screen at the end of the touch-screen voting process, and that they had to re-enter them.

Mike Lasche, a boat captain here, said that when he voted his vote for Ms. Jennings did not show up on the final review screen until he cast it a second time.

“If I had not checked carefully I would have gone on without ever thinking about it,” said Mr. Lasche, 50. “You have to wonder how many people it happened to and may not have even noticed it.”

While a recount is being sought, if the voting machine never even recorded the votes properly there is no way we will ever know who was supposed to win the Florida seat.

A preliminary review by The Herald-Tribune found that if Ms. Jennings had won the same percentage of the 18,000 missing votes as she did among counted votes in Sarasota County, she would have won the race by about 600 votes instead of losing by 373.

Electronic Voting Machine Rigging

Everyone loves a good conspiracy theory, and the one about the U.S. Republicans rigging elections through the use of electronic voting machines is one of my personal favourites.

Unfortunately, it just went from being a crack theory to being really plausible after this testimony in court from a computer programmer who admitted to writing a program used in voting machines to rig elections 51-49 to a particular side -- undetectable by election officials to boot.

How disturbing!

Why quit working for Fox News?

Recently, two producers working for Fox News in Jordan resigned. They outlined their reasons as follows:
"We can no longer work with a news organization that claims to be fair and balanced when you are so far from that... Not only are you an instrument of the Bush White House, and Israeli propaganda, you are war mongers with no sense of decency, nor professionalism."

Be sure to check out the article for a transcript of their interview.
